When Allie (Danielle Evon Ploeger) returns home during her final college summer break, she doesn't anticipate staying long, but that all changes when there's a death in the family and Allie inherits her childhood home.
Her life-long BFF, Kenzie (Kelsey Thomas) helps her deal with her loss, and other family drama, by forcing her to join The Browncoats, the team she captains in the small town's co-ed softball league.
Kenzie's advice for Allie is simple... When life sucks, just grab your glove, and grab a ball. Everything just sort of fades away when you're playing catch.
Shot in and around Austin, TX, Summer League features a nice batch of first-time filmmaking talent. Making their feature film debut are our stars, Danielle Evon Ploeger, Kelsey Thomas, Gabriel Peña, and Timothy Bowman as well as our film's director, Lex Lybrand, our writer, Kelli Horan, joining forces with Carrie Cates to round out our first-time producing team! First time director-of-photography, Austin Shaffer moved to Texas from Portland to shoot the film, and Henry Rowengartner was... wait, actually, he's one rookie that wasn't involved with the film. :)
Through the help of some inventive fundraising (an art show, a pub trivia contest, and an Indiegogo campaign), we were able to raise all of the funds needed to produce the film. We are 100% independent!

When can I see SUMMER LEAGUE ???
Well, Summer League is currently in post-production, so... not yet! If you've got an indie-friendly film festival in your neck of the woods, then you can look for us in early 2013. Otherwise, keep checking back here (especially the SCREENINGS/TICKETS page or the PRODUCTION BLOG!) for news and information on upcoming theatrical screenings, DVD release, etc.
It won't be long. Trust us. Summer is coming. :)
I hear March is a really nice time to visit Austin. You might want to pack something green.
